Founding Mother, Mary White, celebrates 90th birthday

On April 3rd Mary White, one of the Founding Mothers of La Leche League, celebrated her 90th birthday. La Leche League GB sent Mary congratulations and warmest wishes on this wonderful occasion.  
The gift of mothering 
We also sent her the gift of the book Musings on Mothering which GB Leader Teika Bellamy produced to raise money for LLLGB.  We thought that Mary would enjoy reading the many different stories about mothering.  Through being part of LLL we have been able to find the way we felt was right to mother our children and to appreciate the uniqueness of each mother-child relationship. 
Mary’s family 
Mary is the mother of eleven children, three sons and eight daughters, and in August 2012 her youngest daughter Liz gave birth to Mary’s 61st grandchild.  Mary also has 73 great grandchildren!   We sent Mary our love and appreciation and hoped she would spend a special day surrounded by her family.

Further to LLLGB sending Mary greetings on the occasion of her 90th birthday, we have received the following reply: “The book, Musings on Mothering, is an amazing creation and must have taken many hours, days and weeks to put together. Thank you so much for sending it to me and please thank all those wonderful moms and dads who had a part in it. I wish you all the best in the good work you are doing for mothers, babies and families, very sincerely, Mary White”.
