LLLGB Criminal Record and Safeguarding Declaration

As part of LLLGB’s safeguarding responsibilities, individuals applying for, or seeking to renew or re-establish, positions of trust within LLLGB are asked to declare any information that they are legally required to disclose, and any safeguarding information that may affect their suitability for the role.

This includes:

  • Leader Applicants
  • Leaders seeking to make a primary or secondary connection to LLLGB
  • Applicants for employment with LLLGB
  • Applicants for Director roles

LLLGB recognises that having a criminal record does not automatically make an individual unsuitable for volunteering. Information disclosed through this form will be considered fairly and confidentially in accordance with the LLLGB Ex-Offenders Policy. A disclosure will not automatically prevent appointment, and applicants will normally be given the opportunity to provide context before any decision is made.

Before completing this declaration, applicants may find it helpful to use the government’s online guidance and criminal record checker to understand whether a conviction or caution is spent and whether it would be disclosed on a DBS check. Applicants are only required to declare convictions and cautions that they are legally required to disclose.

If you are unsure whether something should be declared, we encourage you to seek advice or discuss this confidentially before submitting your application.
