You’re welcome at our online meetings whether you have a question, need support, or simply want to connect. They’re relaxed spaces to chat with others who are breastfeeding—whatever that looks like for you.

What happens at an Online LLL Meeting?
We usually have a topic for the meeting, with one or more Leaders (La Leche League breastfeeding counsellors) facilitating the conversation. We can support you with specific breastfeeding issues, and always have plenty of time for questions.
Our aim is to create a safe, welcoming space where you can share as much or as little as you wish. We hope you’ll leave feeling supported, encouraged, and more confident.
To protect everyone’s privacy, we ask that anything shared in confidence stays within the meeting. We never record our online meetings and ask that you do not make your own recordings or share screenshots.
If you have “unfinished business” after a meeting – further questions, comments or feedback – please let the Leaders know, either during the meeting or afterwards. We want you to feel satisfied with your experience. If something didn’t feel right, please tell us.
Tips for getting the most out of an online meeting
Be visible
If you’re able to, keep your camera on so we can see you. Check that your face is well lit and clearly visible. You don’t need to look smart or have a tidy room! It’s fine to turn your video off briefly (for example, to change a nappy), but seeing each other helps the meeting run more smoothly.
Be heard
Please mute yourself if there’s background noise. The host may mute participants if needed – you can always unmute when you’re ready to speak.
Take turns
It can be harder to read body language online. You can use the hand-raising function, raise your hand physically, or type in the chat. The Leader(s) will guide the flow and let you know whose turn it is to speak. The chat box is also a great way to ask questions without interrupting.
Think about privacy
Please consider who might be able to see or hear the meeting from your side. Headphones can help if others are nearby.
Can my toddler, mum, partner or friend join with me?
Babies and young children who need to be with you are always welcome – we love seeing them.
LLL values the role of partners, co-parents, and other close supporters from pregnancy onwards, and we warmly welcome them at antenatal sessions. Our online support meetings are for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless stated otherwise in the meeting description. However, as with all online spaces, we have no control over who may be in the room or listening in, so we ask you to please not do anything with your camera on that you wouldn’t feel comfortable doing in a public space.
If you’d like to discuss accessibility or support needs, please get in touch. Our mission is to be available to all who need breastfeeding support, regardless of ethnicity, disability, cultural or religious affiliation, family composition, sexual orientation or gender identity.
Feel free to email the LLL Leader/group running the meeting if you have any questions.
Breastfeeding is going well — can I still join?
You don’t need to have a problem to attend an LLL meeting. We value having a mix of attendees at different stages of pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you do have questions or concerns, we’ll do our best to help. If you need more in-depth one-to-one support, you can find other ways to contact LLLGB here:
Please Note
Leaders have a wide knowledge and experience of breastfeeding but are not medically trained and cannot diagnose medical conditions. If you have a medical query, or concerns about your own health or your child’s health, please contact a health professional such as your midwife, health visitor, GP, NHS 111, or in an emergency call 999 or attend your nearest emergency department.
