Inclusion Policy

LLLGB is a non-sectarian, single-issue organisation dedicated to supporting breastfeeding.

Our focus is on providing breastfeeding information and support while working to ensure that our services are accessible to those who seek them.

Our core purpose is to promote the physical and psychological health of mothers and children through education in the technique of breastfeeding, primarily through mother-to-mother support, information, and encouragement. In practice, this includes supporting
anyone who is pregnant, breastfeeding, producing milk, or feeding a baby expressed breastmilk.

As part of its role in advancing public education, LLLGB also provides information and support to others with a connection to babies and breastfeeding, including those caring for or supporting a breastfeeding baby, child, or parent.
We aim to ensure that everyone who comes to us for support is treated respectfully and can access our services.

LLLGB works to make its services, and its volunteer and employment opportunities, open and accessible without discrimination on the grounds of age, disability, race, sex, sexual orientation, religion or belief, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity (the ‘protected characteristics’ set out in the Equality Act 2010).

We oppose unlawful discrimination and take concerns about exclusion or unfair treatment seriously. We are committed to reviewing and improving our practices where barriers are identified.

People’s family circumstances and experiences of breastfeeding vary, as do their experiences of receiving breastfeeding support. We aim to ensure that our services are welcoming, relevant, and responsive to a wide range of needs and circumstances.

LLLGB will:

  • consider how our decisions and activities affect access to breastfeeding support
  • recognise that people may face different barriers to accessing support and respond thoughtfully to the needs of the families and communities we serve
  • review our policies, procedures, and services to reduce barriers and support inclusion
  • listen to feedback and respond through established processes, including our Comments, Compliments and Complaints Policy and Raising and Resolving Concerns Policy
  • take appropriate action where our standards are not met
  • actively support volunteers and staff to further develop our understanding of inclusive practice over time
