Babies and children
As with all La Leche League events babies and children are welcome. They remain the responsibility of their parent/ carer at all times. There will be a dedicated space with some toys and activities.
At the top of De Parys Avenue there is a big park where you will find a playground, duck pond and Robinson swimming pool. If it’s raining the big public library in town or Cecil Higgins museum might be helpful, the nearest soft play is Kids World and is a 20 minute walk. If you are in a car Woburn Safari Park and the Shuttleworth Collection (aeroplanes) are fun days out.
Getting There
Erskine May Hall is located in Bedford town centre.
- Free parking onsite
- 20 minute walk from Bedford train station.
- 10 minute walk from Bedford Bus Station, or catch bus number 5 or 7.
- 13 minute walk from Premier Inn and Mercure Bedford Centre Hotel
Travelling from further afield
It might be helpful to know you can save money by avoiding going via London. Whilst Bedford train station is the closest, Sandy and Milton Keynes (MK) aren’t that far away. A1 Cars (01234 800 800) told us that a taxi from Sandy is approx £16, whilst from MK it’s around £36. From MK there is also a £12 bus.
Luton is the closest Airport and is connected to the train line via a Direct Air-Rail Transit (DART). Including connection time the journey to Bedford train station takes 40 minutes.
Sarah Fletcher and Helen Butler are happy to answer travel questions and help where possible.
